About us

Piran Mining was established in 2006 by Tim Peters (ACSM, MAusIMM), a mining engineer with 27 years experience in the industry.

The company offers extensive operational experience in the various facets of hard rock mining varying from mass mining to selective narrow vein techniques; in addition to broad based experience in project management of a range of resource projects.

An area of specialty is working within high stress and seismically active conditions as found in some of the deeper mines of Western Australia and the gold mines of South Africa.

Tim Peters (ACSM, MAusIMM) Principal Mining Engineer

Graduated from the Camborne School of Mines 1990.

Tim has international mining experience gained from working in gold, copper and nickel mining operations within South Africa, Tasmania and Western Australia. He has worked on a range of projects from Greenfield to near-mine in Australia, Canada, Finland, DRC, Mali, Ghana, PNG and Brazil, as well as operational underground hardrock mines.

His experience and expertise include;

Project Managment of Feasibility and Pre-Feasibility studies, Underground Mine Design, Mine scheduling within high stress and seismically active operations, Setup of green field operations, Ore Reserves and Resource reviews, Hoist shaft evaluation and rehabilitation, and Financial modelling and risk assessment analysis.

Pat McMullen (MAusIMM) Principal Mining Engineer

Graduated from University of Sydney in 1980.

Pat has over 30 years experience in the mining industry. He has worked at underground hardrock, nickel, copper, gold, tin and poly-metallic mines on the west coast of Tasmania and in Kambalda, Western Australia.

His experience is in a wide range of mining methods in high stress mining enviroments involving narrow vien mining methods to large open stope mining methods. Pats expertise is in design, scheduling and evaluating mines for scoping studies, pre-feasibilities and feasibility studies and ore reserves.

Sheikhan Mohamed (MAusIMM) Senior Mining Engineer

Graduated from Curtin University of Technology 2005.

Sheikhan has over 13 years experience in predominately underground metalliferous mines in Australia. His considerable operational planning experience across various undergound mining methods and commodities, together with his pragmatic and motivated approach makes for a competent mining professional capable of taking on a range of projects from Scoping through to Fesibility studies.

His experience and expertise include;

Pragmatic underground mine designs, review and optimisation of medium and long-term schedules; complete infastructure planning for u/g operations, mine optimisation/ financial evaluations.  He is also competent in using several of the mainstream mining packages.

Victor Masaka (MAusIMM) Mining Engineer

Graduated from Western Australian School of Mines 2015.

Victor has 5 years evperience in the mining industry predominately in gold mining operations within Australia and Africa.

His experience and expertise include;

Production, mine design, short to medium term scheduling and drill and blast. He is proficient in the use of several mainstream mine planning packages.
